Tom Avermaete

Tom Avermaete is an associate professor of architecture at the Delft University of Technology. His research focuses on the public realm in relation to the architecture of the city in Western and non-Western contexts.He is the author of Another Modern: the Post-War Architecture and Urbanism of Candilis-Josic-Woods and editor of Wonen in Welvaart, Positions: Architectural Stances on Modernity and the Public Sphere and Colonial Modern: Aesthetics of the Past, Rebellions for the Future. He is also an editor of OASE Architectural Journal and the initiator of the exhibition In the Desert of Modernity: Colonial Planning and After.
