Between Cars and Architecture

Lowie Vermeersch

Lowie Vermeersch is the founder of Granstudio, a mobility research and design studio based in Turin, Italy. After holding the position of design director at Pininfarina, Vermeersch expanded his expertise beyond the car into the broader field of mobility. Granstudio brings together a unique combination of expertises, including car design, architecture, engineering, urban design, and management. This unique combination of vision and expertise allows them to design future mobility means, from cars and vehicles to service and policies.

This lecture is organized on the occasion of “The Auto Drives Architecture” research project, the Faculty of Architecture and the Built Environment’s contribution to a forthcoming exhibition opening in spring 2022.

The Berlage Keynotes is an ongoing lecture series featuring internationally prominent architects, designers, and thinkers who are at the forefront of design discourse and innovation. A selection of speakers working from different disciplinary perspectives and in different geographic, cultural, and political contexts present how their work engages with contemporary issues and debates. This fall semester, speakers include MONADNOCK, Formafantasma, Lowie Vermeersch, GROSS.MAX., Matilde Cassani, HArquitectes, Kayoko Ota, and Annette Gigon.

All lectures are viewable online at theberlage.nl and are open to the public at the Orange Room, Faculty of Architecture and the Built Environment, Delft.
